NEXT HEALTH INSURANCE OPEN ENROLLMENT DATES: November 1, 2015 through January 31, 2016.
Health insurance reform can be very confusing. Individuals can only purchase health insurance during open enrollment season. Throughout the year, you may enroll if you have what is known as a qualifying event. Our health insurance expert, Rod Marlow, has over 30 years' experience in the insurance business. He is trained and certified with the Affordable Care Act (ACA) that affects every aspect of individual and group health insurance.
The official Marketplace offers a way for individuals to obtain subsidized coverage for private insurance. A qualified ACA health plan can be partially paid by the government (subsidized), and is known as being 'on the Marketplace'. A qualified ACA plan that is not subsidized is known as 'off the Marketplace'. You can find out if you qualify for a subsidy of any kind by checking the subsidy calculator. Insurance plans on the Marketplace are offered by private companies. They all cover the same essential health benefits. All plans must now cover the 10 Essential Health Benefits. If you do not qualify for a subsidy, calling a Certified Marketplace independent agent can assist you in avoiding the hassle, costs are the same, and contacting us is far easier!
Do you need help understanding what this all means and whether it relates to you? If you are an American or a legal alien, this affects you. If you don't have insurance, the law states there will be a penalty on individual tax returns for not having insurance. You can determine what that penalty may be by checking the penalty calculator.
We are here to help with information, support, and service about how the ACA relates to you. Please call Rod Marlow at 734-864-5783 or email us at email@example.com. We service all of Michigan and are located in Ann Arbor.
